Review on 🚪 Maxpow Gas Charged Liftgate Struts for 4Runner 1996-2002 (2Pcs) - Rear Hatch Support Shocks, SG229011, No Added Ladder by Hco Cortes

I bought these racks to replace the tailgate on my 2001 4runner and I was very happy with the result. A few tips for an easy installation.1. If you are doing the installation yourself, use a 6ft stepladder and some towels to support the tailgate.2. To remove the OEM clips, use a flathead screwdriver that fits the slots. Insert a screwdriver into one of the slots and turn counterclockwise.3. Use a small punch and pull out the pins.4. There is a nylon bushing in the top of the post that needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, they are not available individually, but you can make them yourself. Go to your local hardware store, which has the initials "HD" and there has a section called "Nylonpad". Take 1 pad and cut it in half, sand it a little, it will be nice and comfortable. I've included a picture of the part number for the gasket and the tools I used (60 grit sandpaper and vise).5. Don't forget to send in the factory metal spacer when assembling the bottom of the posts. You'll see what I'm talking about when you remove the old ones. Installation should take 10-15 minutes, the longest part is trimming and installing the nylon bushings. I love the design of these replacements, they feel more solid than the OEM models. Threaded bolts at the top, easy clip pins at the bottom. I hope this makes your installation an easy job. By the way, if you can ask a second person for help, it's much easier. I made one side, I'll help you with the other. Update: It's been 4-5 months since I installed them and it's been a cold winter here in Virginia. They work great in the cold months, let's see how they perform in the summer (gas expands in the heat). Update 4/18/21: It's autumn now and they're still working fine. In the summer months here in Virginia they seem a little "harder" as the gases expand. Just wanted to comment on a reviewer who left a 3 star rating with a top shelf picture. He left out the nylon sheath I mentioned earlier! If Toyota installed a socket there, there must be a reason. 10/12/2021
