Tailgate tailgate Maxpow gas-loaded support legs

11/18/2019. Replaced 2002 OEM 4-Runner Brackets. Very easy to assemble, almost homemade, perfect fit. Note: You will need something to hold/support the door/hatch during installation, this is a lot heavier than you might think! It only took maybe 20 minutes to finish. After installation, the door held up excellently in our cold garage (34ยบ). At this stage, they need practice but want to stand the "test of time" before making a final decision. If there is any problem, I will come back and leaveโ€ฆ

Best Customer Service I've Experienced in a Long Time

I'm having trouble installing the rear door braces on my 2001 4Runner. It may have been my method of installation (?), but the folks at Maxpow have been incredibly helpful with the diagnosis and steps needed to install correctly. Within a couple of days (email delay) the issue was resolved with no issues! All of their products are highly rated, reasonably priced and their service is the best I've seen in years. For any parts I need, they are my first choice. I will only be tempted to order from

Good product! best spares

Replaced it with a 4Runner 97. The elevators work fine, installed and used in cold weather, circa mid 20's. Very smooth up and down motion and the gate now lifts itself after a slight lift. See previous posts if you need to replace the nylon bushings as this was a great help especially on a truck this old. They came from another big store, not HD but L and you just have to cut them to length to fit the lift top mounting bracket. They fit my 97 4runner but many sizes are available. Hillmanโ€ฆ

Big shocks! They are smooth and durable.

Much nicer than having to deal with a tailgate that keeps banging on my head. After 5 minutes of installation, I open the sunroof just a little and now it's slowly opening all the way. I thought it would be harder to close with abstracts, but no. They are very smooth and strong enough to hold the hatch open. It is great! I ordered the nylon gasket in HD as other reviewers have mentioned. Haven't received it yet but can't wait to install it. Turns out my old shocks didn't have a spacer and wereโ€ฆ

Easy install, best design

I bought these racks to replace the tailgate on my 2001 4runner and I was very happy with the result. A few tips for an easy installation.1. If you are doing the installation yourself, use a 6ft stepladder and some towels to support the tailgate.2. To remove the OEM clips, use a flathead screwdriver that fits the slots. Insert a screwdriver into one of the slots and turn counterclockwise.3. Use a small punch and pull out the pins.4. There is a nylon bushing in the top of the post that needs toโ€ฆ
