Review on Marumi DHG 72Mm Achromat Lens by Gary Knop

I've been a photographer longer than I can imagine. But I didn't know anything about near achromats and I'm very glad I finally found out. I wanted to get back into macro photography. My main macro lens is great, but it's for a 35mm camera. Kodachrome is gone and now I've invested in digital gear. I've been looking at the Lens Baby range, but got lazy in my "golden years" and prefer to use aperture or shutter priority on my through-lens metering camera. Top notch macro with image stabilization (I'm a handheld aficionado unfortunately) was well beyond what I could reasonably justify. And the cheaper Prime Macro 1:1 lacked image stabilization. The use of a tripod becomes mandatory, since a woman cannot hold a shutter speed of 1/10 second without shaking. Extension tubes require a stop or extra exposure (more likely to shake), plus I would lose the zoom capability of all my lenses. I haven't invested in prime lenses for my digital camera. I don't want to do a real 1:1 and play with all that math. I just want to have fun staring down the throats of flowers and getting up close to beautiful rocks and shells. I love this lens. I'm saving money to get version +5. My son, who teaches photography, was blown away by the quality of my first attempts at this lens. Thank you! Thank you! Would I like a true 1:1 macro prime? would anyway! But I'm happy to be able to play in this area again without having to make a big foray into the food budget.
