I've had this flashlight a little over 3 years now and have been using it almost every day for the past 7 months. Before the extra time away from home made the morning commute possible, I used a flashlight occasionally, but most of the time it was in my pocket, waiting to be used. While not technically a 'cheat', I found I could use a little more light than 500 lumens. On the street (bike lanes) where there are streetlights, it works well. For portions of my ride that involve channel stretches with no ambient light, even the highest settings don't give me enough light to effectively see runners or other trail members from afar. I'm considering switching to the Vis Pro 1000. If you're driving at night on streets or other (urban?) areas with ambient lighting, this light will suffice. The attachment system works well and I haven't had any durability issues. The fastening tape has retained its integrity and shows no signs of embrittlement. While the flashlight is advertised as being able to be removed from the mount in seconds, I found it much easier/quicker to simply remove the entire flashlight than to loosen the stop screw that secures the flashlight in the shaft mount. cradle.Pros: - The lantern itself is well made and its durability is unquestionable. - The maximum setting still gives +/- 1.5 hours of use - It provides enough light for most road trips (with ambient lighting) - The flashlight is relatively small and doesn't take up much space in my bike tool bag. I plan to use this type of light when cycling. It can easily be used as a flashlight (along with a headlamp) when camping. Cons: - The charging port cover is poorly designed and chipped off (consistent with other reviews I've read). The cap still works, but I have to keep an eye on it while charging. The plastic bracket appears to be a design flaw. - The loading process takes quite a long time. I'm not a techie but I'm guessing if they upgrade the charging port to USB-C it might charge faster? Newer models show faster charging, so the problem can be solved. Overall Verdict: The flashlight has been durable and reliable for the last three years I've used it (even with recent daily use). I love that it's made in America, and unless my research comes up with something with a much higher rating, I intend to stick with Light & Motion for my next upgraded flashlight. The 4 stars for durability is solely for the charging cap issue. Otherwise the lamp appears to be explosion-proof.
