Review on Resafy Magnetic Chef Knife Acacia Wooden Block Holder Rack: Strong Enhanced Magnets for Kitchen Storage and Cutlery Organization by Dan Toliver

Not strong enough for medium handle knives

I'm not going to kill this thing with one star because it's a cheap alternative to some of the much more expensive options. However, you get what you pay for and I returned it immediately. It worked well to hold some of my Wüsthof classics, but even those came loose too easily to be a safe option. It would not hold any of my heavier-handled Dalstrong Shogun Series X knives. An 8" chef's knife dropped so the tip stuck in the wood and then the magnet would still hold it upright, but without the blade pressed against the block it's unstable. or safe. I've even tried this with my shorter paring knives (which aren't forged but have the same heavy handle) and they slip all the way to the tapered roller and fall. This block will probably work for cheaper knives with a light weight even then I want to make sure it's strong enough to hold the knife by the blade only and not rely on the knife resting on its bead on the block . Visually and structurally it meets my expectations. It looks good for what it is (exactly as pictured). I agree with other reviews that it fits better with big bolts and a small fender washer. I've had no issues with mine warping or being out of square. The bottom edge was cut with a square re and ran both vertically and horizontally. Overall I see where it would meet the needs of someone with light knives as a budget solution for a product that doesn't have many direct competitors.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
