Connected the device to my Android phablet via an OTG cable, launched Avare ADS-B by HIZ LLC and within seconds was tracking planes with fly overhead at a frequency of 1090 MHz. In flight with data at 978MHz it was just as easy. There is only RFI on the avi band when the software starts controlling the receiver, which requires a moderate increase in the squelch setting, fogging or canceling out some distant signals. RFI is audible at 118.075MHz and peaks between 122.7 and 123.075MHz, with device orientation obviously affecting intensity. For this reason it is giving a 3 star rating and without the RFI it would be 4 stars, maybe 5. It is still considered incredibly valuable for Avare's delivery of weather and ADS-B traffic.
