Review on πŸ” CL082 Clamp-on Spot Mirror by Fit System by Chase Dunn

High quality good value for money basic blind spot mirror with clip

I last bought a set of these CL082 collar auto parts mirrors about 10 years ago and one of them is still in use on my truck. These mirrors aren't fancy, and the black plastic body doesn't look as "pretty" as a polished stainless steel mirror or a chrome mirror, but if you can put up with that, this is a really good wide-angle mirror for either. on the driver or passenger side of a pick-up or van with tubular frame primary mirrors. As you can see from the product photo they are designed to attach to round pipe and the clip fits the standard diameter (1/2 inch I think) pipe that truck mirror mounts are usually made out of . The mirror has a hinge to adjust the angle of rotation. This hinge is firm enough to hold the aiming point when the wind blows on the transom at highway speeds. However, the clamp tends to rotate slowly around the pipe, even with a rubber bushing to provide friction. I believe this is a small problem that can be solved with a little ingenuity: a dab of hot glue or a small self-tapping screw through the clamp and into the tube will stop the slippage. It should also be noted that if your mirror mount isn't round tube but something like a flat bar, the clips can be removed and the mirror mount pin attached by drilling its own hole in the mount frame. Advantages: Large field of view due to the rectangular shape, can be mounted in both landscape and portrait format. Navigate depending on how much you need a wider viewing angle. The plastic body will not rust or corrode. Can be installed using the included clamp or on a flat surface by drilling your own mounting hole. I'm not sure what plastic the case is made of, but it seems to be quite UV resistant. The black paint does tarnish a bit with time and oxidation, but I've never seen any signs of cracking, even on 10 year old mirrors. Chrome plating wears out or breaks off, these parts rust; However, rust will not affect the mirror's functionality as a mirror as the pivot ball seat is plastic and therefore non-corrosive. The real test of any car mirror is field of view, and this is where this mirror easily outperforms any similarly sized round mirror, such as the CL052. I've used both the CL052 and CL082 on my trucks and vans for the past 20 years and the rectangular CL082 is much better, especially as a passenger side mirror. I just hope the company keeps making this product as I have to buy new ones every three or four years due to accidental breakage. For around $7.00 you won't be disappointed!
