I bought these Celestron Outland X 8x42 binoculars for my grandson but first compared them to my Vortex Fury 8x42 which is about 4 times the price. For the price, a pair of Celestrons is a good deal. If you are an experienced bird watcher, you may not need these binoculars as your main binoculars, but they will work as secondary binoculars. The optics appear to be good, field of view is good, focusing is good at around 8ft and eye relief is good at 18mm allowing glasses to be used without loss of vision. They are light and well made. Adjustable eyecups work perfectly. On the other hand, they are not as bright as more expensive optics, the focus knob is a bit stiff to turn and you just don't get the "wow" feeling when you try them on for the first time. But like I said, for the money they are worth it. I've seen more expensive binoculars that aren't as good. You certainly won't be disappointed or embarrassed about birding with your friends if you take them with you.
