Review on πŸŽ›οΈ Backlight 30-130DB Professional Instrument Calibrator by Nick Cleary

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works very well as a standalone meter. Data logging is not used.

Unfortunately, no matter how you set it up, the datalogging interface and the datalogging itself is utter garbage. In fact, when connected to a computer, the dB meter inexplicably showed 10 dB more. The supplied CD is a mini disc. So if, like most people, you only have a side-loading or front-loading player, it's useless. On the plus side, customer service was responsive and very pleasant. They really wanted to help and fix the situation. They sent me a software download so I could set up data logging. I may have just received a bad gauge, but I think it's quite a few design flaws that made it useless to me, which is why I sent it back.

Pros
  • VERSATILE - a great basic tool, a sound calibrator that can be used in many areas: from music recording to complaints about noise from neighbors, in industrial and office environments, in speech therapy, etc.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
