On a crop without a screwdriver (and this is most of the budget cameras like my D60 and D3100), you need just such a 35mm lens, it is equal to a full-frame 50-ku - an ideal lens in the opinion of many. Kit 18-55 shoots universally, diverse objects can be all in focus - but frankly, it shoots boringly. In the same lens, there is amazing clarity of the main object, as well as a chic blur of everything else, while not just blurring everything and everything, but selective and very interesting. There is some very small zone of sharpness in it - sometimes even different faces in a group photo nearby may not be in focus. Ideal - one main person in the frame, everything else is out of the zone of detail. Allows in some cases to abandon the outbreak - but no one canceled a firm hand. Very clear and sharp, detailed photos of the main plan, along with this, just a great professional blur of everything else. I really like this combination. I have never regretted that I bought this particular lens. It allows you to create excellent "expensive and stylish" photos. But it takes a little practice ;-) Focal 35 (a la 50mm) allows you to shoot in small rooms and on the street - a comfortable distance. The 18-55 lens is gathering dust in the closet, with this lens the photos are very interesting and stylish. PS: shortly before the purchase, I sold the 55-200 telephoto lens as a cheap lens, the photos from which are just as cheap. I ordered on ebay from the USA from the officials with delivery 2 weeks at a price of 7200. - at this price the lens is just perfect ;-)
