Review on Fast & Reliable Transcend 512GB Thunderbolt πŸ’¨ Solid State Drive StoreJet 500 for MAC (TS512GSJM500) by Robert Tyus

This resulted in unnecessary expense for a cable I didn't need.

I have read some other customers' reviews on this product. The only downside is that the description doesn't mention that it comes with two cables, one for USB-3 and one for Thunderbolt. This resulted in unnecessary spending on a cable I didn't need. There were mentions of heat from the unit which I didn't see as a long term issue. It may get warm during use or when an application or other system services are reading/writing. I use it to store Logic Pro X project files and actively edit files from them. If an application is not used over time, Mac OS tends to put it or some CPU threads to sleep. I found that in this case the temperature of the device drops again even if it is plugged in and the project file is also open but hasn't been edited for a while. That means I often leave Logic Pro X open all day without actively editing. If you're concerned about prolonged heat causing damage to components, I recommend unplugging the drive when not in use and plugging it back in using Disk Utility. . It is natively recognized by Time Machine and backed up automatically. Backup will continue on remount if needed. The speed problem depends on the bus architecture and cable combination.
