(1) The sign is illuminated by a single LED strip on top of the sign. Therefore, the light is not properly diffused. As a result, the numbers are not clearly visible from my street (the street is 90 feet from my house). The light from the sign actually obscures the numbers. (2) No gasket and limited plastic cover on battery compartment. This almost guarantees a possible water leak. (3) Thankfully, the included single NiMH 1200mAh 1.2V battery is replaceable. I replaced it with a 2450mAh battery which can help ensure continuous operation during the long winter night. when a cheap little solar panel can provide enough power to fill a large battery. Bad lighting design is a deal killer for me. In addition, the device is almost entirely made of plastic (including the grounding screw and bracket) and looks cheap. I'll be back hoping to get something better. I am afraid that these problems are more or less obvious with all available units of this type.
