Review on Diamond Wireless Extender Transmitter Receiver by Mario Beaklini

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Requires external USB power, but works well the first time you use it.

I am using this for my home theater to replace a 25ft HDMI cable. The receiver (HD projector) is within 14 feet line of sight of the transmitter (Roku soundbar). It takes about 20 to 30 seconds to connect devices when they're on, which isn't a big deal as I usually turn on the projector and soundbar about a minute before sitting down to warm up. Once connected, I didn't notice any lag, anomalies, or video dropouts, or any loss in image quality. I use Full HD 1920x1080. At first they didn't connect. However, plugging the included USB power connectors into BOTH devices resulted in a connection. I deducted one star because it wasn't clear that the need for external power is likely (or likely always) necessary. The only place I've mentioned it on the product page is in the picture of the USB connector used. Since both devices (Projector and Roku) only have a USB port, I'd rather not use them that way, although I think it's better than plugging them into the wall. Most likely, other devices such as computers are providing sufficient power to the HDMI port. Also, the device's HDMI connector was too short to fit in the projector. This was because the projector's HDMI port was set back compared to the width of the device. However, the provider supplied two 90° adapters AND short HDMI adapters. The 90° adapter doesn't work in this case due to the proximity of the required USB power colliding with the device, but the key solved the problem. The other end (Roku rod) worked without an adapter. I didn't deduct another star for this because the added details solved the problem and you can also see that the projector design was also at fault. Note that USB power supplies also came with wall warts if your application doesn't have a usable USB port nearby. I've only had them for a few days and have used them a few times, so their durability and reliability are unknown. that the design of the projector was also to blame. note that USB power supplies also came with wall warts if your application doesn't have a usable USB port nearby.
