Absolutely necessary for above ground pools. We have a 24’x52” intex. Over night the water temp drops 6° or more. With the 1600 series cover the temp stayed exactly the same. We put it on right after getting out and let the the sun warm the pool for the last hour of daylight and it just works. I had to trim about 8ish inches all the way around, but that’s easier than it may seem at first sight. Materials thick and sturdy. It’s kind of heavy, but trimming it helped, and made it easier to put on and take off. Absolutely recommend the 1600 series.
