Not very effective on oven mitts

The description of this item is misleading and I regret buying it - 'heat resistant' doesn't seem to protect your fingers - even at 350F (I cook a much much hotter! ) we quickly felt a burning sensation when we took the pans out of the oven. The pads also became discolored/blackened (temporarily?) from heat, which was odd. Poor quality which is essentially useless to buy if you need to double down on pads that are hot anyway or use towels.
