Review on 🏑 iHome Flow Outdoor Smart Plug: Dual Sockets, Weatherproof IPX3 WiFi Plug with Energy Monitoring, Alexa & Google Home Compatible by Prettyboy Capers

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Easy setup and separately controllable outputs. Poor WiFi range.

Bad: -- Poor WiFi range: I wanted to use a smart plug to control an outdoor pond, so the smart plug had to be plugged into an outlet outside and at ground level. It was connected to Wi-Fi at home, but when moved outdoors and 18 inches off the ground in an outlet, it would not connect. -- Timer doesn't work when it's out of WiFi range: Even if you set the timer schedule while the device is in WiFi range, the timer won't work if you use the smart switch outside of WiFi range. Move Range -- 2.4G WiFi Only: Smart Plug ONLY works with 2.4G networks. and worked well on my galaxy s20 phone with 2.4g network with netgear r8500 router and found smart plug. - After connecting it can work if the phone has 5G WiFi: But after connecting to 2.4G from the phone, you can connect to the 5G network, that is in the same subnet and it will still use the smart Control Switch. I mention this because many people would rather keep their phone on 5G, which this system allows once connected to 2.4G.-- Easy initial setup: The app found the device. It was very quick on the first try ready to use. Works well when connected to Wi-Fi: I loaded the unit lightly and was able to toggle each output on and off individually. - Can name individual exits: The app has a handy feature that allows you to name each exit. - App can override: The app will override the physical switch on the smart switch, or in other words if the switch is pressed it can be turned back on using the app. -- The application has a timer to turn the smart switch on and off at a specific time and you can set the complex to turn off on a schedule. -- It's rated for 15A resistance: it's not good or bad, you just have to be aware of it. Most household circuits are rated for 15A, but the Smart Switch is rated "resistive". This means that an inductive load like a motor that draws a large surge current when first switched on is beyond the limits of the smart switch and I assume the switch will trip due to its declared protection circuitry. Fixed Waterproof Connectors: Waterproof connectors are permanently attached so they are never lost. If you found this review helpful, please vote "Useful" using the button below.
