Watch out for the gap! for cabinet devices

We are renovating our kitchenette in the basement. In an attempt to update the look of our cabinets, we wanted to replace the old hinges with hidden hinges. Luckily my husband made a test door out of reclaimed wood to test out the hinges before we went crazy and put all the pocket holes in our closet doors. Note. Our cabinets have a front frame with 1/4" overlay doors. After we installed the new hidden hinges, there was a noticeable gap between the door and the frame. I've read other reviews that mentioned this, but I thought so , it would still be worth a try. how bad can that be? I found we didn't like the look of almost 1/4" spacing. no amount of adjustment helped fix it. straight on they were fine, but looking at the sides the gap looked too casual for our liking. I hated to think about the amount of dust that would seep into the cabinets through those gaps. If you have a faceless frame I think the covert ones Hinges are what you need, but if you have cabinets with a face frame, watch out for the gap!
