Really like this mat. He does what he has to. I've been using it every day for about 2 weeks. The white drawn lines overlaying the velvet material begin to wear away almost immediately. I didn't have high hopes judging by the reviews and the price (not that $30 for a piece of velvet nailed to a rubber mat is a steal, but accordingly), but I can say I was pleased with my purchase am satisfied . So far, the green velvet material has held up well to daily use. I was able to fix my backswing problem and help me with my first touch of the ball. It didn't break like some. I personally had no problems hitting balls (maybe balls roll). But when I hit balls, I'm very economical. I tend to use clean golf clubs, use them indoors or in a clean area in the yard, and I try to just stroke the surface to see the shape/orientation/start of the notch I'm going to create. So far it's been exactly what I was hoping for. It had smudge marks that dulled the velvet, but I used a little diluted dish soap and it immediately reverted to its original appearance. It's not a perfect product but I think if you treat it with a little care it will last you a while and help you.
