
I bought this unit to replace the old Maverick4 probes but the settings are ONLY for roasting meat. If you have a smoker, it's more important to keep an eye on the smoker's temperature, as meat takes time and I have a pretty good idea of how long it stays in the smoker. As a test, I placed a probe from another thermometer and 2 probes from this device. An old device and the face sensor showed close, one probe on this one showed A LOT of deviation and the second showed "close enough". Tracking a piece of meat with 4 probes seems like a waste of money, buy something that works. Other users don't seem to have any problems. or were satisfied with the replacement. MY problem is that you can't control the temperature of the smoker, only the temperature of the meat. For YOUR use, this can be an attractive alternative to a more expensive and adjustable device. like an unconventional thermal power station
