I love the tape with cork. It has comfortable padding and a soft, secure grip. I've used it in the past and found it durable. This product exceeds my expectations as it comes with some bonus items. 1) 2 pieces to cover the area not covered by the hood where the brake meets the steering wheel; 2) plug at the end of the rod; and 3) closing volume. The ribbon is my least favorite part of this pack as it is way too wide and has a plastic texture and look. The cork tape comes in 2 pieces, one for each side of the pole. I recommend using the tape as a guide and wrapping it so that 90% of the tape touches the bar and 10% overlaps the previous wrap. This should give you some leftover material to grab, which is your goal because it means you've attached the cork tape correctly. It's also important that you don't stretch cork-based tape as it has no tensile strength. I think that's why they added 2 extra pieces to protect the under hood area. They don't want you trying fancy tape-tensioning maneuvers near the brakes.
