I bought this for two reasons: SONY QUALITY and it was made specifically for CAR USE! I wasn't disappointed! The player has a glossy black, stain-resistant metal cover and control buttons. It also comes with two remote controls, one for the car and one for the player to carry around. In the kit, of course, everything else you need to play in the car and take it with you. But the remotes really got me interested. I found that the car remote simply duplicates the basic controls that Sony says can be operated like a windshield wiper handle in your car. However, you can use any remote control. The nice thing is that it's more like a "car". a pen for certain people, I suppose. This also includes hook and loop fasteners, which resist twisting or peeling off very well. The player has almost everything to play music the way you want it. I didn't find anything here that was really missing for the most basic listening experience. One feature I liked is the "Bookmarks" feature. The number of songs I tested was about 75 tracks with 3 groups or folders. I don't know what else you need when you're recording 490 songs. Battery life should be considered, this is for optimal conditions. So; The player lay flat ATRAC recorded at the lowest bitrate and just played through, without touching anything. If not, I'd estimate the battery life to be somewhere between 9-16 or (more) hours of actual gaming depending on how much you "tinker" with it. My biggest dislike was the SonicStooge software that comes with the player. Obviously Sony's DRM affects the usability and consistency of its use. For example, I couldn't figure out how to delete a group, even checking that option just didn't delete the group! I ended up just reformatting the ATRAC CD. You can get used to SonicStooge once you learn the "feel" of SonicStooge. After a few moments of frustration, I started to understand some of the core features, but this clearly takes some work. I couldn't get it to work with their online music site Connect either! There were times when songs suddenly stopped playing and then started playing again. I think it has to do with the recording capacity of the G-Shock player (I hope :). I never enabled this feature. SOUND? I played it through my car radio and it sounded really good. (Recorded at 64 kbs) I compared the MP3 audio to the ATRACPLUS audio and found that the ATRAC audio sounded slightly better, especially in the bass range. A little more "coolness" and certainty. I love the sound of ATRACPLUS! I find this patented method better than MP3. The music also sounded very good through the supplied headphones. I never tested the sound with Grado or better headphones, but with these headphones they sounded very clear and solid with very good bass! Another thing people might ask is how loud can it be? Well, when you crank it up to maximum volume, it looks like someone is screaming at the top of their lungs, maybe 10 feet away from you. how long can you take this SUPPORT: Great! I was able to get to a live representative with minimal wait time. (less than 1 minute). For more complex issues with their software, they gave me another number to call and got a knowledgeable representative straight away! No menus or entries! Try it with iriver. They still haven't responded to the email question after weeks! There was really just one thing missing (maybe) and why Iriver beats her. sounds silly, but there is no LIGHTING on this thing. In order to see the information on the 4-line LCD (of which there are many), good lighting is required. Sony, take the hint and BRING ALL YOUR PLAYERS TO THE LIGHT. Thank you! This is not only useful, but also COOL! Oh yes, he has a little work 'on' the lite version. Small but nice! It changes color depending on the program material.
