Review on πŸ”© Dynomax 33231 Stainless Steel Clamp Band with Enhanced Hardware by Joey Richardson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

good clamp - spares

This is the first time I have used a muffler clamp and have chosen it over the usual U clamp. My old pipe only went 1/2" into the new muffler, so I don't know how the old U-bolt could have sealed it. The Amazon website describes the size of this clamp very poorly, but I have another website for it Found auto parts that lists the part numbers and dimensions for these Dynomax Band Clamps This clamp is designed for use on a 2 1/4 OD tube on one side that inserts into another 2 1/4 ID tube I didn't measure the wall thickness of the 2 1/4" ID pipe, but I estimate it was about 2 3/8" OD. Dynomax also makes clamps designed to work with the same size pipe on both ends are laid out so do some research on what you need and find the correct part number They attached a piece of black tape to the clamp I assumed it was meant to be sealed at the junction of the clamp but it wasn't very long and was already in not the glued to the clamp in the best position. So I ended up using red Permatex around the seam where the exhaust pipe meets the muffler before attaching this clip. I don't think it was necessary, but I had it so I figured I'd use it. When I was done, the new muffler was quiet.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • boring package
