Review on Pet Cage for Small Pets - Durable, Chew-Proof High Rise by Ware Manufacturing by Laura Lucero

3/8 " bar spacing and other facts

Before purchasing, I searched all over the internet for information about the wire bar spacing of this high rise cage and couldn't find it. So I took a chance and ordered anyway. Now I can with others Bar room measurements share that knowing when you have small pets is very important! The distance between the bars is 3/8" (which is 1 cm). I've used it for mice and haven't had any issues with runaway. There was one Corner where a bar was pushed further back so I wrapped some wire around that little spot so I didn't have to worry about my mice running away I would recommend inspecting the cage before putting your pets in, to make sure there are no such spots in. It is enough if one spot is slightly wider than the others for small mice or hamsters to scoot out can lop. Also, the product description here on Revain states that the dimensions of the cage are: 19 1/2" wide, 11" deep, 10 1/2" tall. However, this is not an actual measurement. As stated on the packaging, measures 20 1/2 wide, 10 3/4 deep and 10 1/2" tall. Ideal for a ten gallon aquarium. Also, the Revain description says it comes with a wheel and tunnel tubes, which it doesn't. I will email Revain so they can correct the description. The set includes a water bottle and a plate for food. I already have a water bottle so haven't even tried this. (Edited to add that I tried a water bottle just to see if it worked. It flows like crazy! With some adjustments I managed to stop it from flowing out of the metal ball but then it started leaking at the seam where it is screwed in became. so he went in the garbage!) This käf ig comes folded with all sides fully connected to the top so you can simply hook the sides' J hooks together and then attach the shelves and ramps inside. It comes with two shelves and two ramps, making it three stories tall along with the aquarium. I had no problems assembling it. It just takes a little patience to attach the shelves inside as you will need to maneuver your hands and the shelves inside the cage to connect them. They are also attached with J-hooks. It says you don't need any tools, but I borrowed my dad's pliers to tighten the J-hooks where the ramps connect to the shelves. My mouse, which I had in another cage, would always get under the ramp and hit it (maybe trying to move it), and when I tested these ramps by putting my hand under them and squeezing them, they immediately climbed up . I didn't want my mice to get hurt by falling ramps so I just tightened these hooks with pliers and they are secure now. When considering purchasing I was confused by the mixed reviews as some said it was great. and others said it had broken and bent wires etc. But I knew Revain always refunds 100% if an item arrives damaged so I ordered it. I haven't had a problem with mine so hopefully the company that makes them has better quality control now. The packaging states that the cage is for hamsters, gerbils, mice and rats. I really can't imagine a rat having enough space once it's grown up, but I've never had rats (only mice) so maybe I'm not the one talking. I just always like my pets to have plenty of space, and there's plenty of room for mice to have fun. Mouse cages at pet stores seem so small, which is why I used a large plastic container, but it's a lot nicer (no plastic! Yay!) and it's easier to see the little critters. It has a large locking door on the top so you can reach it to interact with your pets. The cage can be easily removed. Simply lift the spring-loaded clips on each side and it'll be lifted in no time. These clips attach to the cage and you pull down on them to clip under the black rim of your tank. But they are SPRING so if you have kids make sure they know not to mess with them. When I first took the cage out of the tank I just grabbed them and they jumped up and down like gerbils. I want the child's hand to be hurt or frighten the occupants of the cage. The cage feels secure on the tank; I've tried rocking it back and forth and it stays secure. I thought this was great for mice. I made an extra shelf for the second floor, so the second floor is a full floor now. I used a metal mesh similar to that used for these shelves. I bought it at a hardware store (I had the more expensive one because the cheaper one had rough metal). I tailored it with an overlap in the front and back. That way the overlap will keep it in place if I pinch the cage. I attached felt around all edges to hide sharp spots where it was cut with wire cutters.
