We had 2 cats, before that our eldest daughter rescued 3, 3 week old kittens and left us 5 cats. (Now we have what looks like a real zoo, with 2 dogs, 5 cats, 3 rabbits and an inside/out belly). place the heads in traditional boxes with lids. (Disgusting?!?! We thought so too.) Buying 5 smart/auto cleaning boxes just isn't financially feasible. They worked like a charm. Cats can easily get in and out. The entrance ramp even significantly reduces (very close to elimination) the amount of debris tracked on the ground under their paws. Dogs cannot put their head directly into the opening and reach the litter. The only animal that has figured out how to open it is our stomach, but it just wants to open and close the lid over and over again. (He's a perpetual toddler and too smart for his own good.)
