not reading accurate readings

This thing didn't read the fuel level because the tank was full five gallons at a time. Ten gallons in 50 gallons. Tank is still empty. Took the sensor out of the tank and slowly ran it by hand and it jumped about a quarter tank increases. Checked with an ohmmeter and yes the reading jumped about 60 ohms from top to bottom or from full to empty. Switch to a cheaper resistive coil sensor.
