I bought a QOTOM Mini PC to use with pfSense and VPN. My previous Asus router just couldn't handle VPN encryption, resulting in pathetic internet speeds. Enter CAT. First of all, don't worry if you order directly from China. The processing time was incredibly fast, shipping via DHL. It was packaged very well and arrived without incident. The first impression after unpacking is that this small device has a certain weight. Very solid build quality. Of course, the main body serves as a heatsink, which explains its impressive all-metal construction. I asked for it to be preinstalled with pfSense. Once an HDMI monitor is installed for the initial pfSense setup, the final setup can be easily done through the local pfSense website. Everything went smoothly and has been working flawlessly for a few months. And best of all, this little guy can deliver 95% of my wired internet speed, even with strong VPN encryption. Brilliant! Also, pfSense is great! I am very comfortable! What a great purchase! Thanks QOTOM. I should add that I reinstalled the latest version of pfSense (2.3.4) even though it came preinstalled with pfSense - probably a good idea. September 22, 2017: Now that I've been using the Qotom device for a while, I'm happier than ever. It's extremely stable, CPU temperatures fluctuate between 38C and 48C (48C in summer when my house is warmer) and pfSense is great! Once again, the Qotom device is a fantastic pfSense device and a great solution as a VPN router versus a standard off-the-shelf router.
