Disappointing for cameras and photography

Disappointing. I was really looking forward to this microscope, it is convenient for me to use microscopes since I have used them and work in medical practice several times a day. I was looking forward to coming home to see what happened to my grandson. At first glance I was surprised at how well built it was. Love the fact that it was a plug-in and not battery powered. A detachable power supply was included. I love the fact that it has both a translucent slide board and a double-sided black and white solid backing board for displaying items that aren't on the slide. The eyecups were solidly built and very comfortable. When I went to plug it in and read the instructions I felt they weren't as clear as they could be. I was struggling to get the light to work. There are two light sources, one above and one below, operated with a single switch. One switch turns the device on or off while the other toggles between top and bottom lights. I had no problem getting the top LED to work. But the bottom light was hard to turn on. It went off, then on, then off again, like a wire had snapped somewhere. I had to play with it every time I wanted to turn on the bottom light. Whether you use it professionally and it can be of decent quality, or you use it for hobbyist or educational use, the electronic aspects, at least on my device, weren't very well designed. The problem with the lighting in the rest of the device was pleasant. But the dangling wire on the lighting fixtures was very disappointing. No price was listed at the time of review, so I cannot determine the value. Also, I would like them to include some slides that you could create yourself. Especially when used as a hobby at home or in the classroom.

Pros
  • Front binocular stereo microscope ideal for researchers, students, educational institutions and hobbyists; 120 volts
Cons
  • Some minor issues
