My copy was just in time to take to my weekly knitting meetup. Bold Aran and Toscana lace sweaters were the group's favourites. I'm not an experienced knitter, so if I'm knitting a lace Tuscan sweater (love the yoke and sleeves) I can substitute a simpler lace pattern instead. Just my personal opinion but the striped top along with the beautiful but rich lace bottom of the 3rd color was too big for me. I like cables, but living in the south I can't wear bulky sweaters. I rarely look at a braided sweater pattern. But the Bold Aran with its simple, extended braid in the front would be the perfect top for fall and winter. The pattern calls for soy silk yarn, so I'm probably going to make a sample and try it with a flaxseed blend. Of the 19 designs, two are in #2 Light (Sport), one is in #2 Fine (fingering), one is in #4 Worsted. with the rest knit in No. 3 people. Looking at the recommended needle size and gauge, I find that some of the thinner yarns knit a little looser than usual. Large knitters NOTE. Pattern sizes range from 40 to 48 inches. I think it would be pretty easy to either increase the yarn size or adjust the density to create a 1x or 2x size. Creating large format designs requires some modifications and some of the designs are easier to modify than others, at least for someone with my knitting skills. Each has a design or stitch pattern that I like and will use in knitting other garments. The cover and pages are high quality paper, although I would have liked the book to be hardcover and spiral bound. In fact, I'd happily pay more for books with better bindings!
