I know that weight and comfort are high considerations for many people when purchasing a Kali Maya helmet, but I'm happy to report that safety can be added. Last weekend I had a bad crash on my mountain bike riding down a washed out fire road and hitting the deck at about 22 mph. The entire right side of my body looks like I slept on a belt grinder, but I'm intact and the Kali Mayan helmet saved me from a serious head injury. The impact shattered the foam shell inside the helmet and took the brunt of the fall while the outer plastic helmet remained intact, allowing my head to leap over rocks and cacti without injury. No concussion and the only damage to my head was my Oakley glasses shattering and cutting the tip of my nose. Don't worry if you decide to buy a Kali Maya helmet. You made the right decision.
