Review on 🚲 Cygolite Hotrod – 90 Lumen Bike Tail Light with 6 Night & Daytime Modes – Wide Glowing LEDs – Compact & Sleek Design – IP64 Water Resistant – Sturdy Flexible Mount – USB Rechargeable – Ideal for Busy Roads by Mike Donathan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Small and light but not as bright as others and charging is boring

I bought these Cygolite Hotrod 50 Lumens because I read how cool they are, small, light, good for an aero -seat post. It fits perfectly on my aero seat post on my TT bike. However, at 50 lumens, it's definitely not as bright as the others. My brother has a 100 lumen ApaceVision flashlight, it's a bit bigger but noticeably brighter. I don't know how true any of these lumen ratings are, but you can definitely see the difference. The silliness of hotrod, IMO, is that the LEDs flash while charging. Granted, the intensity is lower than when in use, but still AAF unless you put the item in a drawer or empty space while it's charging. Worse, when it's fully charged, the LEDs are pretty bright all the time. I travel with my bikes quite often and I would never share a hotel room with him. I really wonder at what level people's brains are when they come up with all of this. I see there's a 90 lumen hotrod version now, but it's almost 2x more expensive than the 100 lumen ApaceVision. I have already bought two ApaceVision 100 Lumens, one for me and one for my wife's bike.
