Well, this device is a few feet in a case. I bought it because of the ammeter function. It works pretty well for that - I've tested a few devices (AC only) and the readings were within 0.1 amps of the rating plate. The device is also a volt/ohmmeter and you will need the included probes to do this. Unfortunately, the black measuring cable that was sent could not be plugged in completely and therefore the measuring device did not work. I checked my spare test leads and found a working kit and verified the volt/ohm meter was working. The seller will include a small card stating if there are any problems. Just let them know and they will fix it. I had two problems: the black probe didn't work, and as not mentioned above, the included 9 volt battery caused the unit to beep and flash until I realized the battery was half dead - 7.1 volts. Instead I put in a new 9 volt battery. I have sent an email to the address provided. Obviously I didn't make a convincing argument because they didn't send anything in replacement. In fact, they said to send it back to Revane, which I did. unless I made a deal on the price of the item and the replacement costs 20% more. So I kept it. I give it 3 stars because the counter works but it's nothing special and the customer service is a joke. It will work for what I bought it for. Hope.
