Update: The seller sent a replacement but after a month. I was originally offered a replacement if I delete this review. I did not do it. I didn't use a replacement because we already have a new toaster (not that new to be honest). So I can't say for sure if they fixed the problems with the mechanism or not. I am dealing with a family crisis which I have reported to the seller because he has sent me multiple emails asking me to remove/update the review. I just got another one and honestly the pressure is heavy and unnecessary. To be honest this makes me doubt the accuracy of the reviews for this product. How many people are willing to delete a bad review for a free toaster? I do not know. I went from 1 to 3 stars because they eventually replaced it. But even if I've used a new toaster and it works perfectly, the dodgy business practices leave a bitter taste in my mouth. Three stars is the best they could get, even if it were a 5 star product. Original review: We've had this toaster for about a year and a half now. Today the mechanism is completely out of order and will not be left alone. Until now, you had to make a real effort to keep it that way. But it would. And when it did, it toasted more evenly than any toaster I've had since I was a kid, and the world still knew how to make toasters. This is a 1 star rating. It's a shame. It's cute and inexpensive, and with a higher quality mechanism it would be a darn good toaster.
