I needed to mount a Garmin on a kayak. Along with this item I also purchased a RAM trackball with T-bolt mount and a RAM dual-socket composite arm from Revain. It was the perfect setup for my needs. in the Garmin database, which simplifies and speeds up setup. The screws that came with my Garmin mount were self-tapping, so I had to go to the hardware store to buy three stainless steel screws with stainless steel locknuts to attach the Garmin base to this base adapter. Looks good and everything is solid. This base adapter is lightweight so I don't recommend using it for heavy items. The Garmin Striker 4 weighs about 8 ounces, so it's fine. When adding gear and gear management accessories to my kayak, I always try to keep the overall weight down.
