This is a very good fireplace for the price. We had an old wood fireplace and chimney setup and were planning to install a gas insert. It would have costed us >2,000 for the gas insert installation and lot of work. But we don't use our basement that often to invest in a gas fireplace for occasional use. We decided to go with this because of the price and ease of installation. Built a 2x4 frame around the existing fireplace opening and inserted this in, took less than 1 hour for the complete installation, including adding an electrical outlet inside the fireplace. Option to change color is an added benefit to change the ambience of the room as needed. We use this as a secondary source of heat when it's too cold. The heater itself is small and cannot be used as a primary source of heat. But aesthetically it is very pleasing to watch this fireplace run. Only downside was that we couldn't get the controls on the fireplace to work, so have to rely on the remote controller to turn the fireplace on/off, change temperature or the fire color. But the customer service at ARLIME was super responsive to get this resolved quickly. Few other features that would help make it more realistic would be to add a small speaker with fireplace sound. We typically use a google home play fireplace sound near the fireplace when it is operational.
