It's nice to have the right tool for the job. My first attempt at shortening hydraulic brake lines didn't go smoothly. Now I've shortened some brakes and it's actually very easy if you have the right tools. If you are new to hydraulic brakes I recommend purchasing this, a 2.0 needle driver and bleed kit.
