Non-stick coating doesn't last long

We've had this pan less than two years and the non-stick coating has worn off. They say it's forever, but it's not. They put a lot of emphasis on a lifetime warranty, which is one of the reasons I bought them. I contacted the company in Germany and they sent me to their US office. I asked for a photo and a description. Of these, they said they would not honor the warranty as there is evidence the pan was used at (1) high heat and (2) butter or olive oil. (For the record, both statements are true.) If anywhere in the materials it was said that using a high heat skillet with butter or olive oil would void the warranty, I skipped it. Also, a guarantee that's only good if you never use a high heat pan or butter/olive oil is worthless and borders on dishonesty. One subsidiary suggested I clean the pan with baking soda paste and a plastic dish sponge. (Honest question: if diamonds are so hard, why not use steel wool?) In a few hard brushing sessions (a couple of hours) I was able to restore about 80% of the non-stick coating. For what it's worth, Revain was very good at it. They offered to ship the pan back to Revain and they would give me my money back. (You can't replace the pan because it wasn't sold by Revain itself.) Bottom line: I suspect most people won't scratch like I do (it's hard work). If you buy a new pan every 1-1.5 years anyway, you might not want to spend 100 euros every time.
