Pros: simple pistol grip, simple reload spring Cons: cumbersome vents, connector very difficult to disconnect from transom mount. I'm a mechanic. (40 years experience) I finally killed a 30 year old Lincoln grease gun and decided to give it a try. Refilling the grease cartridge is easy and uncomplicated. However, after loading, it took forever for an air bubble to come out. Usually a grease gun has a spring-loaded button that you press while pumping the handle and it "burps" air. This gun has threaded plugs that must be removed. Knowing exactly what a mess it would be if the bolt came out and the spring loaded grease was being squeezed out while you were trying to put the bolt back into the plug, I decided to just loosen the entire pump a few turns and leave it. wrap in a rag for a couple of hours. It worked well, but if you're not careful and try to completely empty the tube before changing the cartridge, you'll end up going through the burping process every time you reload. very difficult to remove once you are done smearing. I used screwdrivers etc to take it off hoping I didn't break the Zerk attachment. The final attempt ended up unscrewing the connector from the hose and then essentially disassembling the connector to remove it from the transom fitting. In the meantime, I've installed an old fitting from my old Lincoln grease gun until I find a better alternative. This grease gun did not convince me. Keep searching...
