It was a 'refurbished', used item, as ordered. The box appears to have been opened and sealed with clear packing tape. But this is exactly the unit I ordered and it appears to be brand new, I don't think it's ever been used, I don't think the player has ever been taken out of the case. An HDMI cable was included, the HDMI cable was in the original packaging and was never opened. Works perfectly. Has LAN internet connection and "rocks" like streaming features which I haven't used and don't intend to use. (I have a Roku, but I need a DVD/BlueRay disc player.) Has a digital audio output for sending audio to a surround sound system. Paid $60, good value for a Blue Ray Disc Player.
