I am writing this because I have seen some negative reviews about the product not working. It almost put me off buying it, but I'm still glad I did. At first I couldn't get it to work. But after several tries I came up with a method that works great! Here are the instructions for using this product: 1) Wrap the connecting wire tightly 6 or 8 times 2) Cut the end of the ribbon with scissors to leave a clean edge 3) Singe the cut end of the ribbon with you a lighter. This will make the edge softer and stickier. 4) Tape the burnt edge to the tape. Now she has to stick together. 5) Using the heat gun on the LOW setting, direct the heat at the ribbon. 6) As it heats up you will see it change from matte to glossy. 7) Continue heating until the entire ribbon is soft 8) Remove the heat and allow to cool. As the tape cools, it hardens. Here's what people get wrong with this product - Complain that the free edge doesn't stick (fixed with a lighter) - Complain that the 8 inch strip doesn't shrink and heat gun it by 1/ 4 inches) - try squeezing with a lighter or heat gun on HIGH (this is too hot and will melt the product). Please note that this material is much thinner than heat shrink tubing. I can heat shrink tubing with a lighter all day. This material requires a much more delicate touch. But for places where I can't separate the wires, put on heat shrink tubing. this stuff works great.
