LONG review - involves cleaning hard water stains that look like rust. It's KETO/LOW CARB'S best friend - makes eggs hard boiled fast, so easy. How did I get along without it? I bought (6) EGGLANDS BEST Pre-Shelled Hard Boiled Eggs for $3.75 a pack mainly because I found it very difficult to boil hard boiled eggs without them coming out the best, MEH. I've tried every hack, even Tim Ferris' YouTube version, and they never worked properly, took a long time, just made me miserable. so I just paid them. We started the lifestyle with a KETO/LOW CARB diet and with (3) people (me/husband/son) meaning we eat LOTS of eggs each week. They kept asking me to make stuffed eggs, but I just couldn't justify the $3.75 apiece hard boiled version at the store for SIX eggs. fits. There's a smaller version (cooks up to 8 eggs) but it's only a few dollars more and takes up SMALL counter space, folds flat for easy storage, so I'm glad it's bigger. a measuring cup for water with a hole punch on the end to poke a hole in the top of the eggs before cooking them. Finally, it really makes removing the shell easier, so be sure to use it! I believe the water as it evaporates makes the device buzz and lets you know the eggs are ready. Haven't cooked soft boiled eggs before but I've made soft boiled and hard boiled and now I have warm delicious eggs for breakfast every morning - very cheap and very easy! Here's how I make hard boiled eggs with this cooker: --- Set up the machine, read the quick start guide, determine how much water I need for a dozen hard boiled eggs -- Fill the dial gauge with water, place on the bottom of the machine, then install the plastic holder for Eggs/bottom tier -- Punch holes in FAT SIDE 8 eggs, place in plastic egg holder/bottom tier -- NOTE. Be sure to insert the side with the hole UP to avoid the egg spilling into the unit - NOTE. Piercing the FAT SIDE of the egg makes it much easier to remove the shell later. Trust me this is a good idea - Place the outer plastic tier on top of the eggs and then install the plastic egg holder/top tier - Punch holes in the top of the 4 remaining eggs and place them in the plastic egg holder/top tier - Slip on the top of the unit, make sure it fits snugly, the vapor hole should be pointing away from any potential burn hazard - Turn on the blue button then wait for it to beep to let me know You're done, while I'm waiting, I've made ice cream. Egg tray in the sink. I use a LARGE BLUE ice pack (for cooler) or two to hold it easier, a large bowl, water.-- If it BEEPS, I turn off the blue button, carefully lift the lid to avoid steam burn-- Quickly move the egg out of the device to water - NOTE - sometimes some eggs will fly out of the top of the egg hole I made. Don't worry, it's easy to remove and done. After 10 minutes, I return to the egg bath and run cold water in the sink. I crack open one egg at a time closer to the top. /Egg hole I made-- Under soft cold running water, I peel off the shell. Very quick and easy!-- NOTE. Make sure you break the eggshell when you remove the first piece of shell, this will be very easy - place the eggs in their shell on a paper towel lined plate then place in the fridge OR start cooking the stuffed eggs (delicious! ) Many people report discoloration (rust colored spots or white spots) on the hot part of the plate when using this plate. That means it's made of hard water, and it's really easy to clean. Here's how I do it: Take a magic eraser (you can use a sponge, but I like them better) Use a measuring cup and add 1 part white vinegar, 9 parts water, then pop in the oven - DO NOT OVERFLOW - You can add a little more vinegar, no more than 3 parts to 7 parts water - Just bring to the boil, no plastic egg cup/lower tier or other parts. You're just trying to get it bubbling.-- quickly TURN OFF the unit, unplug it and CAREFULLY drain the water mixture-- you should notice that some stains have already come loose from the unit - thanks vinegar! -- Use a damp MAGIC ERASER or sponge to wipe the heating plate. It's still warm, so be careful! - Dry off with a towel - Phew! Silver, shiny, like new! You'll have to experiment with the egg cooker to find your favorite spot for soft-boiled eggs, as other reviewers have noted, but I like hard-boiled eggs for breakfast every morning. Check out my photo for a typical keto breakfast. Just add coffee and whipped cream and you will be very satisfied for HOURS. The red sauce you see is Tabasco Chipotle Pepper Sauce, which I also use a lot. Check it. If you want to cook hard-boiled eggs and store them in the fridge or transport them, check out Snapware - Snap 'N Stack Food Egg 2 Layer Case (search for it on Revain). You can get (2) of these for $20 and you can easily store hard boiled or stuffed eggs in this thing. It's just gotten a lot easier to be KETO Meow-ma without being in the kitchen 24/7 for my hungry boys.
