The first few times I tried it it squeaked but there was still water at the bottom and the eggs were half cooked. I started adding more water to cook it long enough. I called the company and they sent me a new one. Good customer service but it shouldn't break right out of the box. I give it 1 star while continuing to use my old egg cooker.

Works great! Makes perfect hard boiled eggs every time. I have boiled eggs in a pot all the time and I always have 1 or 2 cracks and sometimes they are still undercooked. Received my 12 egg cooker today and tried it after washing with soap and water. If the cord seems too short, as some reviewers have complained, flip the base over and you'll find the cord is wrapped around the holder. Unwrap the cable and voila, you now have a 2 foot cable.
