Great little mount. I've only used it for horizontal vents, so I'm not sure about vertical vents, but it should work. The bracket is made of metal, so you don't have to worry about it breaking. I have ordered two. one for my Garmin and one for an older tom tam. The tom tam also had a ball mount. The Garmin was just assembled, but the tom-tam had a smaller ball configuration. It wasn't easy, but I was able to remove the ball from the new mount, put it in the lathe, and made the ball smaller so it now works with my tom-tom. I wouldn't recommend this unless you are mechanical enough and can't disassemble and reassemble small parts with small springs, latches etc. The only downside is that it sticks out a little further from the vent than I'd like. But it's not a deal breaker at all, and I might even find it more professional in nature after working with him for a while. The plastic parts appear to be higher quality plastic.
