Review on AUTOSAVER88 Ignition Compatible Trailblazer Colorado by Jacob Sriubas

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Coils fail after 7 months

This rating is for a set of 6 Autosaver88 coils suitable for 4.2 liter inline 6s. I installed these coils towards the end of July 2019. In early February 2020 and after about 7,000 miles the first coil failed, started misfiring and finally failed about a week later. Now after 2 weeks the 2nd coil started to misfire. I've tracked this with my Torque Pro app and very rarely missed under load. Now a few days later it's a much more constant bug under load. At the same time, I also see that the 3rd coil is starting to drop out, but very randomly, albeit consistently under moderate load. For reference, I range from 200-210psi in all 6 cylinders, so compression is good, spark plugs (AC 41-103) have only done about 20,000 miles and look almost new. Fuel filter clean, pressure approx. 52 psi operating. I have owned this Envoy for 17 years, bought it new and have always used Delco's OE AC on GM electrics. I tried them based on reviews but will continue to only use genuine GM electronics. Lesson learned. Edited to add: I just replaced the 2nd coil with a Delphi unit, so far so good. I'll just have to wait and see if the 3rd coil shows random misfires.
