strong, durable and great for beginners! it does the job well. I did this hike in the snow and it worked out really well for me. smooth video panning. I would recommend this for video rather than photography because of the pan knob. If possible, use a ball-head tripod when taking photos. The only complaint is that the setting isn't too gentle on the feet or on the head, but it can just take some getting used to. They have a simple design but are still quite complicated if you're not used to it. Also, unscrewing the part (I forgot what it's called) from the camera is much harder than screwing it into the camera. but I still love this tripod a lot, great price for something so well made.
