After testing several HDR monitors with different prices and panel types, I realized that to get decent HDR you have to spend at least a thousand dollars. I chose the Neo G7 (165Hz) over the G8 (240Hz) as I didn't want to risk the G8's scanline problem and my system still wouldn't get past 100fps in 4K. The Neo G7 was ready to go right out of the box, but after a lot of tweaking, it was just great. Cyberpunk 2077's crazy colors popped and was sometimes blinding, Gears 5 was crisp and stunning, even Doom Eternal was deeper. Unfortunately this monitor serves two purposes as it is also my primary monitor in my home office and the FALD panel becomes annoying and distracting in this setup. It's easy enough to switch from HDR to SDR and back in Windows, but I ended up having to adjust the monitor a bit each time. Also, every game I tested also required small adjustments to get the best picture and it got tiring very quickly. I ended up returning the Neo G7 and got the Alienware AW3423DW QD-OLED and couldn't be happier. TL/DR is the best VA based FALD panel bang for your buck if you're willing to customize it for every game you play.
