Review on Enhance Engine Performance with FRAM Extra Guard Air Filter, CA8475 for Acura and Honda Vehicles by Steve Hauck

Fram CA8475 Hard Panel Air Filter

This is for my 1999 Honda Accord EX with 3.0 V6 engine. There is a scam perpetuated by both lubricant shops and distributors. They want you to take your car in for an oil change, oil filter, and air filter every 3000 miles. Well, unless you commute 100 miles a day across the Mojave Desert, you don't have to bite. This filter lives up to expectations in every respect. I'm not an expert on the materials used to make air filters, so I'm going with my visual impressions. I change my oil/oil filter/air filter every 5000 miles and always notice enough dirt in the old air filter to make sure it works! I mean, on the other hand (on a basic sedan like the Accord) you don't really know if your filter is above the minimum design standards. As long as your MPG doesn't drop drastically (insufficient combustion air and inefficient fuel ignition), you're in good shape. I used to have K&N reusable air filters on both the Honda and Ford F-150. . These are probably great filters, but I discontinued them simply because every "replacement" requires the filter to be washed, dried completely, and then sprayed with K&N's specialty chemical. Well, the drying time was usually 3 hours, and in those 3 hours your machine broke. Also, the spray runs out after 3-4 changes and it's not cheap. I would definitely recommend this filter for those looking for an affordable alternative to expensive filters and looking to protect their engines.
