This Garmin 8-58V to 5V 500mA USB Power Cable does not cause RF interference. Many reviews of other straight-wire power supplies complain about RF interference. The short cable length on the 5V load side and the shielded wire on the 12V supply side probably help reduce radio interference. The molded box is small enough and flat enough to fit under the trim at the top of the windshield. The overall length of the cable is JUST enough to run around the Scion TC's windshield (the same windshield as the Pontiac Sunfire). The photos show how much slack I left in the cable where I attach the switch. It's long enough to reach my fuse box when not using the switch. I use it to power my Rexing DVR. Check the specification of your dashcam to see if 500mA is enough. I actually couldn't find the performance data for my dash cam. But it works. EDIT - I measured the power consumption of my Rexing DVR. Most of the time it stays just under 500mA, sometimes reaching 503-504mA briefly. I'm sure this Garmin power supply can deliver a little more than it's rated for. In addition, turning off the display on the Rexing significantly reduces power consumption.
