Well made but too short

This is a well made cable and the DVR works fine with this cable but I had to give it 3 stars because it's too short to put in a full cable size pickup to fit. I had to splice about 2 feet of wire to get to the fuse box. I checked Garmin's website for the exact length of this cable but couldn't find it on their website. After reading the Revain reviews I thought the cable might be too short but the fact that the filter is close to the unit was an advantage for me so I ordered this cable. Since…

Sometimes OEM is just better.

I use my Garmin on our bikes and have to hard wire the system as the cigarette lighter type connection always vibrates. I bought a couple of aftermarket adapters that always worked fine but eventually became loose internally and then broke the internal wiring and stopped working. This Garmin OEM unit looks very solid and I expect it to last a lot longer. The portion of the cable that connects to the voltage converter is very small and looks more like a solid state device without the small…

Don't bother with cheaper imitations

You get what you pay for. I was going to hook up my Garmin Nuvi and figured I could try and save a few bucks with a cheaper imitation. This product was a complete failure and made my Nuvi turn on and off. I used my multimeter to measure the voltage and found that it read less than 1 volt (not even remotely needed 5 volts). I sent it back and bought this Garmin power cord. The difference in quality was immediately noticeable. In this case, wires with a much larger cross section with a built-in…

NOT WET GPS System Accessories

So - I read the reviews, bought TWO of these and here's what to expect: Installation - the product comes with pre-soldered cables which you need to connect to use Your own battery connections - plug and play, don't forget to unplug this cable is 100% hot or you will drain your battery. I really wish they would at least integrate a toggle switch to avoid this. Durability - DO NOT WET! This product, although semi-permanently attached to your bike, CANNOT GET WET! If you get the part that plugs…

Zero RF Interference When Dash Cam Turns On

This Garmin 8-58V to 5V 500mA USB Power Cable does not cause RF interference. Many reviews of other straight-wire power supplies complain about RF interference. The short cable length on the 5V load side and the shielded wire on the 12V supply side probably help reduce radio interference. The molded box is small enough and flat enough to fit under the trim at the top of the windshield. The overall length of the cable is JUST enough to run around the Scion TC's windshield (the same windshield as

Garmin is now powered by my accessories and no more dangling cords!

I hate dangling wires. Especially from my dashboard to my power outlet. Not to mention that connecting and disconnecting my GPS is annoying. So I followed some suggestions from the forum and came across this product. This is a Garmin product so I thought it would be the best choice to hook up to my 2003 Suburban. I've read a few posts elsewhere about using a cheaper alternative, but many people have commented that they're not that reliable. I can't say for sure, but if it's a $10 issue I'd…
