Some people have stated that this tool does not require anything or else on the quick connector to disconnect it from the heater core. To remove this thing you can either cut it off (and risk damaging the heater core) or use this tool. One more note: I needed a tool to set up a new quick connect, basically I reversed the action to remove the original. The original would snap easily, but the new one wouldn't. Take my advice, save yourself the grief, get this tool if you are looking to replace the heater hoses on your GM vehicle.
