Review on Fluidmaster 400AKRP10 400AKR Universal Install by Brent Walker

I installed this kit on 3 of my toilets replacing a dedicated 8 year old builder. The instructions are mostly good, but the first install took me 3 hours of swearing. I'm quite skilled and an engineer, but I have no plumbing experience. The second install took about an hour and the final install took about 30 minutes. Nice set and everything works very well. My husband loves that the flow rate is adjustable so now you get a good flush that leaves nothing behind. Quieter than custom builder systems, no leaks and no continuous operation. Does its job well. Some installation tips I learned (for beginners): 1. After turning off the water and disconnecting the lines, completely remove the tank (use a 13mm ratchet) and remove/install all internal components (like specified) in a convenient way location. I used the kitchen counter/sink and put down a towel to prevent scratches. You can reattach the tank as a last step before turning the water back on.2. A large white plastic screw is hidden under the red seal of the supplied flush valve. I only noticed this on the second install, having previously used an old part and ranted about a pipe that I felt was too short to attach properly. I had to go back and redo the first install. Save my pain and remove the red gasket, then screw it down and put the red gasket back on.3. For those with the handle at the top of the tank (like me), here are some simplified measurements: - Fill valve height: Raise it about 0.5 from the top of the tank. - Mark the spill valve 3.5 inches from the top of the tank. - Minor adjustments can later be made to the tank's water level screw. Thread (or remove) excess chain from flap to handle. If you have a lot of extra circuit it can get stuck in the flush valve and cause the toilet to start. I slid my loop back over the grip clip.6. All the parts I needed (except for one) were included in the kit, so I threw away all the old parts. It is possible after the fact, but it is more convenient to replace it during installation.
